VINTAGE DIESEL POWERED LOCOMOTIVES

MALCOLM MOORE No 1039

A vintage diesel, manufactured 1943 for the Australian Army (approximately 100 units built).

This Locomotive was sold to the sugar industry in 1956, and used until about 1995 at Mourilyan Sugar Mill in Far North Queesland before being acquired by the ‘KMR & Museum Inc”.

This locomotive received a heavy general overhaul in our workshops and was put into service in March 2001.

RUSTON AND HORNSBY No 285301

Built 1949 for the NSW Public Works Department, then derelict, came to KMR from the Illawarra Light Railway Society at Albion Park, NSW.

This locomotive consisted of a chassis with running gear and a gearbox all in a bad state of disrepair.

A considerable amount of research was undertaken as to body styles adopted by RH and a replica ‘tropical style’ body was chosen, whilst a vintage engine was sourced to suit, 1949 Gardner 4LK.

The locomotive has been totally rebuilt in our workshops.

FETTLERS TRUCK- ‘GEORGE No.1’

Custom built in our workshops to provide carriage for three fettlers, all tools, six lengths of rail.  This 4 WDM locomotive has proved invaluable in the development of the ‘KMR’.
