WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE KERRISDALE MOUNTAIN RAILWAY & MUSEUM

New traverser accessed rolling stock shed.  Bottom Points precinct is in the throws of having a new parallel two foot gauge track installed in the northern shed, access to this lock up facility is via a metre gauge traverser, two carriages and one locomotive can be stored in this new facility.

New lock up storage area in retro-fitted building now fitted with twin bi-fold doors that will be used as a ‘works in progress’ area adjacent to the main workshop.

With completion of the above works imminent, our STEAM LOCOMOTIVE will be able to be brought into production.  Whilst this project has been going on at a trickle over the last twenty years a lot has been achieved.  The boiler inspector has agreed with a PLAN for the OVERHAUL OF THE BOILER.  The boiler has been mounted on its’ own truck, a lowboy bogie flat.  Axles, wheels, bearings and coupling rods have been fabricated, the Duplex 7” x 9” engine has been 80% re-built, also a quantity of important equipment has been gathered and stored, Viz throttle valve, steam brake cylinder and control.  So at long last this locomotive can take pride of place in the KMR erecting shop.
